And then I’m ready to go to Geek Heaven! One of the reasons why devices like iPad and other tablets exist is to satisfy this urge in us to stay connected to the web world. Latest touchscreen phone also carry the same incentive, but somehow both the devices have one flaw: tablets lack an external keyboard and phones lack the screen real estate. To bridge the gap we have the really innovative Smartbook; a Smartphone that flips open to become a QWRTY keyboard and syncs with its personalized PC Tablet.

Snaplet paper computers and paperphone!:SuriSoft
A team of researchers at the human multimedia lab at queen’s university in canada have created two fully functional paper computing devices, ‘paperphone’ and ’snaplet’ wrist computer, controlled by bending their screens. capable of use as a phone, music player, book reader, and navigator, the ‘paperphone’ prototype is composed of a 3.7-inch flexible electrophoretic display, underlain with a layer of 2-inch long bidirectional bend sensors. an arduino microcontroller obtains data from the sensors, and the information is processed by a laptop.
‘Paperphone’ is controlled gesturally, through bending and pinching the screen. ‘initially we thought, bending is cool [just] because it hasn’t been done before,’ admits roel vertegaal, director of queen’s human media lab. ‘but then when we started using it, it turns out to be quite efficient. it’s quite a good way of navigating a computer.’ the team’s second paper prototype, ’snaplet’, is modeled as a thin-film, touchscreen computer, wearable on one’s wrist. the device easily transitions to use as a phone, however, by removing the wrist band and bending the screen. an integrated wacom pen tablet allows users to write directly onto the display. like other e-ink displays, neither ‘paperphone’ nor ’snaplet’ uses any power when it is not being actively interacted with and its screen is not refreshed.
Flex Tablet Computer future:SuriSoft
Flex is a revolutionary collapsible tablet computer, with flexible screen while still maintaining rigidity. It encapsulates a flexible spine plus a bendy screen within the frame, which allows the user to translate flex from a slate to several form factors. A loop stand integrated into flex paves way for best content viewing experience. Flex’s flexible spine facilitates efficiency as well as collaboration on a tablet.
Flex incorporates a 14” 3:4 touch screen in slate mode, with the screen measuring 18.5” wide while completely expanded. You can use Flex according to your own preference, by bending it into a notebook, for content creation or bending it outwards for screen share session.

Wacom have quietly outed a new active graphics tablet, the Bluetooth-enabled Wacom Intuos4 Wireless. The new model has an 8 x 5 inch active area, slotting in just underneath the regular, wired Intuos4 Medium announced last March, and hooks up to a PC or Mac via Bluetooth; battery life is up to 18 hours (though not of continuous use) and it recharges via USB (and can be used in tethered mode).

Phone That Changes Shape Depending On Your Emotions:SuriSoft
The concept phones that can change their shape based on the human emotion of the speaker. Considering that body language is a vital part of communication, these handsets are able to transform in order to express the mental state of the caller.
I guess that for some a videocall would fix the showing emotions part, but having a morphing phone in your hand sometimes seems like the answer. Most of the models were made out of ceramic materials .
